June in the Jungle - Finally!

After much paper work for research permits, and running around in KL and Putra Jaya I have finally made it to Taman Negara, the 130 million years old virgin rainforest situated in Peninsular Malaysia. It is here that I will be spending the next few months looking for the all-elusive Hairy Nosed Otter (Lutra sumatrana). With 10 Bushnell camera traps in hand and loads of other bits and pieces, I set off for my jungle adventure. Taman Negara, which literally translates to National Park, has 3 different entry points. I headed to Merapoh, the less tourist oriented entrance to the park and home to the Sungai Relau, the river where the most recent photo of a Hairy Nosed Otter was taken. More as it happens folks. Stay tuned!
